Thanks, Mark! You're a real treasure on the Internet. I tell everyone about you. I don't agree with everything you say, but you are at least consistent in your views, which is a lot more than I can say for our leaders.

The following is a letter I wrote to Nancy Pelosi.

Speaker Pelosi,

Why do you defend the Israelis so much that you seemingly fail to see the suffering of the Palestinians?

First, the Jews take the land that was, in fact, occupied (according to Encyclopedia Britannica) and then they turn around and say that they should have a right to defend themselves? Whether the UN told the Jews that it was OK does not make it morally justifiable and just because there was an urge to do justice for the Jews after World War Two does not mean that land can be taken from another group of people. Words cannot touch what happened in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, but you don't make justice with an injustice. I think the reference I use from Britannica uses the word "displaced." How else are people who have had their land stolen supposed to act? If I or you were a Palestinian, we would both be doing exactly what they are doing. How can call yourself a liberal when you ignore the great liberal tradition of looking at things from the other side?

Now, the people that were thrown off the land only ask that they are given their own sovereignty and yet that's still not enough. The Israelis continue to this day to build settlements in the West Bank. No, the Israelis don't want peace. The Israelis don't want a two-state solution. The Israelis want it all. Their plan is to push the Gazans into Egypt and keep building Jewish settlements in the West Bank...a sort of "squeeze them out" strategy.

Well, it’s not going to work.

Israel MUST talk with Hamas, not the puppet Abbas. Whether you want to admit that the Palestinians are a legitimate people is beside the point. They are living there. They are staying there. The Israelis MUST learn to get along with them.

Being that the Israelis have proven that they don’t want a two-state solution by building more settlements in the West Bank, one can only logically conclude that they either actually believe that they can “squeeze out” the Palestinians or they want a one-state solution granting ALL residents in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the Golan Heights and Israel the right to vote.

Finally, this is not meant to ridicule you or to mock you in any way, but while you certainly have made some important accomplishments towards the progressive agenda, for some strange reason, you continue to defend a particular worldview that bears no resemblance to the progressive idealism that I have come to know and love. If I had to guess, this can only be attributed to your personal and professional associations with people who might be considered by those of us in the real world as Zionists who infiltrate both of the major parties in much the same manner that Archer Daniels Midland contributes to both of the major presidential campaigns. They want to make sure that their agenda is met no matter who is in power and you, it seems, have become a pawn on their board.

How do we right this wrong?

First, remove ALL military and economic aid to the state of Israel and Egypt. We give too much money to a country that is not starving or enduring a humanitarian crisis, which is what I think should be the only criteria of American foreign aid. As the dollar continues to fall and we eventually have to make "tough" choices about federal spending, I can visualize this occurring.

Second, because Israel apparently does not want a two-state solution, we need to encourage a one-state solution which will give all of the residents in the area a right to vote. Whatever happens after that, we must accept. We must let the course of democracy flow even if it means the dissolution of a Jewish homeland. I am certain that the God which the Jews worship would favor a democracy over an apartheid-like arrangement which can only invite more and more hostilities in the future.
