I am a liberal who took a look at Obama....BRIEFLY. There is no "there" there. I was invited to a Ron Paul meet up group, and was almost instantly sold. While I am pro choice and Paul is a pro life obstetrician and great-grandfather, I grasp his position: let the states sort it out: some will ban abortion, others will allow and even pay for it. Personally opposing abortion is different from prohibiting it, and Ron Paul would pass no laws against abortion. He is also religious (I am an avowed aethiest) but believes there is NO PLACE for religion in government. On same sex marriage (I have friends who have chosen this bourgeois path) he has no problem: "they can form any solemn and contractual relationships they want and call it whatever they want".. I can respect that. And I suspect many other progressives will, too.
