I'd have to look it up again, but I think the latest figure on U.S. financial liability (including federal debt, pensions for government workers, up-and-coming medicare costs, etc.) is somewhere up around the 40 trillion mark.
Kinda makes the 9.5 trillion debt ceiling look insignificant in comparison.
And here Mark is worrying about a piddling few billion a month. ;)
