New Year - On the March and Political Cartoonist's Christmas List are two of MF's best cartoons of the year and border on -- dare I say? -- hope for 2009 and a post Bush/Cheney era.
In retrospect, this decade has really stunk for America. Hopefully Obama will lead us into the next decade and help us put the right foot forward and improve our country so that the next decade will be a bit better than this one.
Thank you for a year of outstanding political cartoons. My husband and I are great admirers.
I also enjoy reading the comments and constructing counter arguments in my head. I will share one, concerning the comment from the person that claimed that animals do not show compassion to each other so we should not show them compassion. First of all this not true, there are numerous documented incidents of animals showing care, concern call it what you will to people and other species. Second, by this argument we should not create great works of arts, give charity etc. because animals do not do these things. Third, as some one else pointed out it is perfectly possible to care about a whole host of issues (as you obviously do) and still want to see animals treated kindly. The great modern philosopher Ken Wilber has some insightful writings on these subjects which puts all these issues in context. Last, your vet friend does not keep up with the latest nutritional research grass fed beef is much more healthy than corn fed, not to mention the fact that the corn often adultured with everything from hormones to other dead animals.
Thank you Mark Fiore for your newest political cartoon.
It is exactly the way you put it and we all need Good Luck for sure.
Have a Happy and successful New Year 2009 Good Health and a long life.
Enjoy your work every time!

This decade doesn't just stink in retrospect. It stank all along, though a surprising number of people refused to notice.
