It's a funny way to point out a scary reality. And what about the little guy, huh? Can he/she resort to free legal advice (at least for starters) or does he/she have to dish out thousands of dollars for a lawyer to fight for his/her rights? Maybe if there were groups of people - organizations actually - who would file a lawsuit against the phone companies . . . at least for starters.
With you all the "mark". This is the shape of things to come. The UK implemeting these things already.
We are due to have ID cards end of this year. What they will include even we dont know at this stage. If the muppets could get it working, it'd be full Biometrics.
We are the most CCTV'd country in the world, with the exception of China. Reactive crime we call it, only to find the the CCTV images are not "good enough quality to use as evidence". But we still CCTV anything that moves.
We DNA CHILDREN for godssakes... Even if they are proven innocent after, do we remove the DNA records from the database? Yea right, do we buggery.
We have just passed laws that allow detension for upto 42 without charge. Using these new laws we now target Animal Rights Acitivist's under "Terrorism Laws"
Got a password protected file? Refuse to give up your password, that'll be 2 years in prison & then they STILL want your password(s).
And for all those "nothing to hide" please explain why every government is so resistant to provide information when it is requested under "Freedom of Infomation" (UK)? Your congress IS supposed to protect your freedoms & respect them... Epic fail i'm a fraid.
Like all the 911 conspiracy theories, Nut cases? Well IF they are then why is it from the one's that i`ve seen (Quite a few) the government ALWAYS avoids answering the questions put to them? They dismiss evidence available. They avoid reasonable questions put to them.
The start of the new world order? http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ - Seems/Seemed far fetched until you see where we are now & where we are going with respect to laws, etc.
By the way, I'm switching servers right now and there are some weird things going on. Sorry about the lack of animation beyond the current week. We should have that fixed soon. Arghh, stupid computers!
We think you're a terrorist so we'll hire your phone company to spy on you, an American citizen.
Terrorist=bad, phonetaps = find terrorists, therfore, phontap = good. This and more come from Knuckles: an Autobiography.
But how can I disagree with such a cute and snuggly teddy bear. AWWWW!
When are you going to have George Orwell do a cameo? Most what Snuggly's "spin" is right out of his writings. "We want George! We want George! We want George! We want George!".
Why is their not a tag to the other Snuggly cartoons? It is hard to go back and find the other Snuggly ones. I really like the one from last summer.
Casey?
There are bad guys out there that want to see every infidel dead. They are producing human beings that are bred to be suicide bombers. Their mothers would rather have their babies grow up to sacrifice their lives as a walking bomb than be a teacher, farmer or doctor. They do not respond to negotiations, logic, or any suggestion of peaceful coexistence. Their goal is to eliminate all non-believers from the face of this earth. They chop people's heads off. They fly airplanes into skyscrapers. They, too, want no more wars. After everyone converts to their religion or is killed.
The U.S.A. is the only country with the means, intelligence, and good sense to try and contain their evil goals. We are at war with the most insidious, evil opponent that ever existed. Pray that we have the tenacity to prevail and not give up.
eb
We are at war with the evil Bush brigade. Pray that his evil deeds will not go unpunished. He does not care about you, our country, or anyone, but his oil buddies and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. How in GODS name can you not see it? I am beginning to think Americans are really ignorant. Christ must be in tears to see these so called followers of his are so blind.
Well, by golly, we're lucky that we have such clear-headed people as yourself here in the good old USA.
eb, it's obvious what you have to do. Go - today - to your nearest recruiting station and sign up to kill these evil enemies of ours. Volunteer to be sent to Iraq a.s.a.p. Fight them there so we don't have to fight them here!
God bless you and God bless America!
Brainwashed: Do you know how advertising works? Advertising uses such things as repetition, psychological understanding, targetted marketing, etc. to convince people to buy their product or service. The media uses these same tactics to lead people to certain things. There are two ways to control people. 1. Keep people unaware (illiterate/ignorant) and 2. For those who start to understand, keep them occupied. Which category do you fall into? For those who answered '2', are you really aware? Are you questioning what you see on TV or read in the newspapers? Are you looking at the situation from an unbiased view? Are you leaving yourself options that there might always be another side to the story?
Let me give you an example. There was a recent attack on militants in Pakistan in which many 'Islamists' died. It was noted that their burial ritual wasn't the same as how Moslems practice and add the fact that they weren't circumcized (which is a requirement to be Moslem). So there are people who are fighting in the name of Islam who aren't Moslem? Hmmmm....
Of course they won't bring these things to light in our mainstream media. While they are trying increase their cirulation/viewership, people are busy living in fear or ignorance and giving up our privacy and other basic human rights.
I'm not asking you to change your opionions or believe what I believe, but I do ask that everyone at least keep an open mind and research further into what you see, hear, and read.
You're right, we are at war with the most insidious, evil opponent that ever existed. Unfortunately, we don't know who it is. We are fighting an enemy that is disguised to what you are led to believe. If you still think your thoughts are your own, here's another question for you. Do you know there is no law that requires you to pay a federal income tax in the United States? Research. Open mind... all I ask.
nice one! I was always longing for a cartoonist on this election, because this bush regime is so crazy, sometimes I think I'm in a dystopian movie like "1984"! Thanks Mark!
this is one of your best. my husband loved it, it's what he's been saying for days now--after all, if they didn't get immunity, how can they help us the next time we ask them to break the law?? but aww, he's so snuggly, isn't he?
I have been trying to find a phone that does not participate in illegal activities, If anybody has a suggestion, let me know.
Also, maybe a search engine?
Snuggly is I think your best character. This cartoon was wicked funny. You should do a cartoon on China's domestic Spy program. You could use a Panda Bear :) Google, Sysco, Yahoo, and all those other jerks are ridiculous. They should be prosecuted for the Human Rights violations they partake in.
Love it! Well, not really, as you shouldn't have had to create it, but since it is the unfortunate situation we're in, you've summed it up brilliantly!
If you're into protesting this kind of thing, check out http://www.wiretapthis.com/, it allows you to create an email signature that is sure to get the NSA's attention if they're reading your email, with whatever you'd like to say to them.
I don't have anything official scheduled, but am going to be at the National Cartoonist Society booth at some point. I'll keep you posted, or will put an announcement up on this site.
Brilliant, as usual. I still find it so odd to hear the disconnect, emotionally tainted and just plain false information from the Neo Conservatives. I guess fear is the common denominator if you don't really want to think about stuff.
Customs can open letters and packages to or from foreign destinations. Why should international telephone calls automatically be exempted from these rules? What do you say in your international phone calls that you're so worried about? I know that no one would want want to listen in on mine, and I wouldn't care if they did.
As for the habeas corpus comment - the question here is where the line should be drawn between constitutional rights of ordinary criminals and enemy combatants. No on thinks that soldiers on a battlefield should be bound by Miranda, rules of evidence and civil procedure, etc... But where do you draw the line?
Instead of fighting about this, maybe people should pay more attention to important freedoms, like the freedom to travel; to own and enjoy property (buy and sell it freely, develop it, etc); to freely practice religion; to speak freely, etc.
I'v never agreed with them opening our packages. It goes straight against the IV amendment!
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
