No other solution for the

No other solution for the Americans than to immigrate to Mexico.

Hey, look on the bright

Hey, look on the bright side:

The US had a surplus's chance in California of paying off its debts with or without the tax revenue.

11% GDP per year; 13% GDP per year... probability of default: 100.0%. Maybe a few months difference in the timeline.

This way, Mr. Fiore can revel in the fantasy job of depicting President Obama beating himself senseless.

...up until his seven-figure cartoonist's salary gets WikiLeaked and he needs to pump out some mea culpas. ;)

What if Fiore does make

What if Fiore does make seven figures? As a truth-teller he deserves it. For years I received his cartoons for free, so I hardly think it's about nothing but the money for Fiore.

Are the GOP a better choice

Are the GOP a better choice for liberals like me? Not in a million years. Your vote (and my vote) will always be a choice between two imperfect options. It's childish to complain that the option you chose isn't perfect. So grow up. I, for one, will continue to support the option that is MORE like what I want.

COTO's picture

And if they come at you with

And if they come at you with yet another broken promise, you must first WHAM! ...lower your expectations so that "change" does not actually resemble change in any way.

This will show them that, by the law of averages, your expectations will surely be higher for the next election.

Still griping about tax cuts

Still griping about tax cuts I see! Still think you can lift a bucket from its handles by standing in it.

I for one look forward to the expiring of Bush tax cuts. More visual aids on the failure of liberalism. The liberals have been screaming that tax cuts somehow cause recessions and deficits. Well let'er rip then!! Once we get to 20% unemployment, Id like to see you blame Bush then! HA!

What is needed is permanent tax cuts, large broad and accompanied by massive cuts in spending.

lol, you guys are like the

lol, you guys are like the Underpants Gnomes.

Phase 1: lower taxes.
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Recovery!

Your country is in debt up to its eyeballs, its wealthiest residents are living with less taxes than at nearly any other point in the nations history, but somehow the notion of asking those benefiting most from America's freedoms to pay a small percentage more on their taxes to help cover that massive debt is treated by Republicans like robbery at gunpoint. So whats your alternative? Massive cuts to spending? On what? Schools? Roads? Sewers? Certainly not the military, theres a budget republicans wont dare challenge. So come on, show us your tax-free solution for the trillions of mounting debt. Give us a 'Phase 2', why don't you?

STEP 1: TAX AND SPEND!!

STEP 3: RECOVERY!

wealthiest residents are living with less taxes than at nearly any other point in the nations history

Yeah right. You forgot to factor in fees, massive unnecesary regulation & labor costs which thanks to an excessive min wage + out of control unregulated unions. The later alone is ruining the country especially in places like Illinois and New York.

the notion of asking those benefiting most from America's freedoms to pay a small percentage more on their taxes to help cover that massive debt is treated by Republicans like robbery at gunpoint.

Small percentage? Yeah right! I doubt if 80-90% is not robbery! Especially since most people in this country who get all these freebies DON'T pay taxes!

So whats your alternative?

Easy, stop spending money on lazy people who refuse to work and are able to, stop crushing business especially small business, punish employers who hire illegal aliens and take their benefits away, stop acting as the worlds police force/UN Thug and getting no gratitude in return and stop undermining the constitution.

On top of that, return to the gold standard.

So come on, show us your tax-free solution for the trillions of mounting debt.

I'd like to see YOU come up with an easy solution, especially since once that taxcut expires, revenues to the treasury will decrease since those who pay will be broke.

You didn't learn anything

You didn't learn anything this past decade have you? Oh that's right mr rich businessman from Maine who wasn't affected by the insane Bush policies.

mainestategop's picture

I was affected. more from

I was affected. more from the DEMOCRAT policies than Bush's.

My families businesses in maine had to close down because john BALDaci kept raising taxes and increasing the size of government. MAINE is now the worst state in the nation for careers and businesses, only to be followed by Vermont, Michigan Mississippi, rhode Island Alaska and West Virginia. we are the 4th poorest state in the nation. W virigina, Miss, tennessee & Louisiana are the only ones behind us.

when my brother and I opened business in New Hampshire whAT A RELIEF! Low taxes, a government kept small, our business boomed and we now have more jobs than we added when in Maine!

Of course now the Democrats are flooding in here to escape their self made sewer pits in massachusetts Vermont and new york and are destroying the state.

Why is everything in bold?

Clearly if you thing the

Clearly if you thing the minimum wage is too high, you aren't making minimum wage.

How about cutting government programs. We can start with the military complex, then reduce medicare/medicate and entitlements. Secondly, we should raise taxes across the board. The overspending-undertaxing has gone on so long that higher taxes and less spending is the only real way forward, painful as it is.

Moreover, adjust regulation where needed. If it's mired in bureaucracy, with multiple governmental organizations basically doing the same thing, clean it up! Make regulations that serve the interests of the people but allow businesses to function properly.

Finally, play tough with the international community. Adjust the dollar as necessary to help exports. Lay the foundation for supporting high-tech industries and higher, competitive education.

Thats the amazing thing about liberals. When communism fails, add more communism.

Reminds me of New York Deli owners who see the salads becoming rancid. Instead of chucking it they add more mayo. Only the leftists want more tyranny and socialism.

Clearly if you thing the minimum wage is too high, you aren't making minimum wage

minimum wage jobs are entry level positions. when employers hire, they are taking a risk. Government control and high fees such as min wage make that risk greater. Is this employee suited for the task? some of us are cooks, some of us are office workers, some are managers, others are better at sales than at manufacturing, at craftsmanship or whatever skill. when you hire you take a chance. if the glove fits and the employer can do the job, you raise the salary. At most places the salary goes up every 6 months to every year. according to a study of welfare recipients entering the work force, most for the first time, only 8% fail to beat the min wage in one year. most of these 8% ers are high school dropouts ETC.

When you raise the min wage, employers pass that cost first by laying off and then by raising prices. Every time in history it goes up, unemployment and prices go up too. It doesn't work. If we MUST have a min wage I recommend somewhere between 3-6$ hourly.

if you want higher wages, go for jobs in demand and also increase productivity. No one is going to pay you 50,000 a year to be a Wal-mart associate. Even if the government forced that it wouldn't work!!

your second proposal falls flat. i recommend studying the laffer Curve.

Made me laugh...made me

Made me laugh...made me cry..

Sadly, the actions by Obama on so many issues have made me feel so disappointed. When I saw this cartoon, it summarized exactly how I felt about how he has dealt with the bully tactics of the Republicans. Obama has broken my heart. I worked so hard to get him election. Sadly, I no longer have any "Hope" and there hasn't been any "Change"....

Stefanie

During election time I had

During election time I had the benefit of being a cynical bastard, so I had already concluded Obama was selling snake oil, and he was doomed to disappoint his fawning masses. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Obama's a 'bad guy', I just don't have any illusions about the role of the president or the American government in the modern age, which is as representatives of the will of the vastly wealthy first, and average citizens a dauntingly distant second. When friends and family talked excitedly about the coming election, I'd sometimes mention how I believed Obama was being set up to fail, and they were all putting too much faith in campaign rhetoric and ignoring the reality of the situation. Most told me to stop being such a downer. They didn't realize I was just trying to spare them what you're feeling now.

After 9/11 and the culture of lies surrounding it, the violent defensiveness in answer to reasonable questions...after a near decade of senseless war that has cost trillions and only solidified an international culture of hate toward Americans... after the promiser of hope and change, equality and reason, has proven himself nothing more than another pocket-president... when the term 'Terrorist' is applied to not just men who harm innocents to generate fear, but to men who share embarrassing truths or disagree with current policies... what is there left?
Just how long is it going to be before we start smashing the TVs that lie to us, taking up the arms that our forefathers granted us, and seizing the halls of government that have been stolen from us?
Being a cynic, I'd say too long for it to matter.
Maybe you're more hopeful.

We are all doomed.....Abandon Ship!!!

As usual, Mark is as much an expert psychologist as he ia a cartoonist. In it's funny/sad way, this one so well described the process by which President Obama actively particpates in his own failures. The Republicans (as well as some Democrats and world leaders) smell the blood and go for it.

Amazing cartoon.

Lately, some of your toons

Lately, some of your toons haven't really spoken to me (which I find odd as a far left liberal), but I admire this one and find it refreshing. Obama's "what do you liberals expect me to do" whining of late has shown me just how little he understands what dynamic got him elected and could get him reelected. Given a chance to go down swinging, he chose a shamelessly easy way out, and you stick it to him. I am someone who worked in 2008 to get him elected (getting engaged in campaigning to that degree for the first time), and this morning at breakfast I confessed to my elementary school daughter that she was right all along and I should have backed Hillary. Two presidents in one marriage are not easily intimidated, I would imagine.

Nice Cartoon. About sums it
