Germany proves solar PV is economical and "do-able".... but the last thing the illegal trusts that control energy in the US want is for homeowners and small business to create their own energy safely and cheaply.
BTW: Dr. Paul supporters should ask him what is his position on the new fission nuclear plants to be subsidized by the Federal government in his district to the tune of 17 billion... the ones that are to be operated by "Tokyo Electric".... the same ones who brought us the Fukushima Disaster.
They not only get funds but have manage to suppress the hundreds of inventions over the last 80 years, than can get up to 5 times the fuel mileage and drastically cut pollution by using waste exhaust heat to re -refine the gasoline into natural gas, yes I say it again and get 5 times farther on a gallon of gasoline. time to end suppression before it causes the end of us all.
We are heading back to the stone age while other nations build nuclear power plants. Wheather or not you will be able to power a light bulb is going to dependon whether the wind is blowing or the sun is out. Leave it to liberals to destroy our quality of life to "save us" from the theory of global warming.
Stone Age? Yes, nothing says "stone age" like solar panels. (someone wrote this!).
Now, if we just pretend the vast majority of electric usage doesn't happen in the daytime (hint: it does!), or wind never stops blowing along coastlines (among other places), sure, then solar and wind are totally unreliable.
Oh, and I'm sure wanting more nuclear power plants makes sense within a year of the events in Fukushima, which seem to be getting worse and worse. Go ahead and look up how much energy goes into refining uranium! (great as a ship battery, not so much for land)
BTW, the "theory" is whether it's man-made, climate change is all too real.
Well, Solyndra was a mistake, but I'm sure the next two solar companies getting 1 billion dollars will be much more successful; especially considering that guys running Solyndra and Enron will be partially responsible for it's success. I too have an energy-from-rat-droppings idea, and I'd like to get in on the ground floor. I promise to donate 10% of what you give me to the Democrat party.
Imo all of this is just an example of government trying to
force something to happen that isn't economically viable thereby
stealing from the taxpayer and ultimately overcharging ratepayers.
There is more to this story. For example, Solar City.
In the future it would be wise for voters to reject
people that have political stances like those that
are now in office.
Socialist mindsets almost always produce sub-par results.
I think the point was that we are wasting far more money on subsidies for oil than we are on promoting alternative energy, so it's hypocritical to complain that we spent 500 mil that didn't pan out on a green project when we are giving 150 times that amount to oil companies every year...
So government should support and promote unfounded technology?
Gee, I can make energy from rat droppings, can I get $500 million now please...........
And no I do not think we should subsidize oil industry either. Government should never promote or regulate one business modle over another. But then gee whiz Dr. Ron Paul is fringe, must mean I am to.
Great as always. We have shared this with the members of the Dirty Energy Money Campaign so expect to see this linked, tweeted, etc. in the coming days! www.dirtyenergymoney.com
Cogent, to the point, ironic, fabulous sarcasm, and a healthy soupcon of snark! You rock, dude ... Keep 'em coming. Heaven knows we need you more than ever! Thank you as always!!!
that was great...combined, we have all the power...under our right foot..the one that pushes the gas pedal...even if it is just driving the speed limit, we can protest by cutting back on gas!!
Okay, Mark, I've thought you brilliant and having done some amazing work ... However, I believe that this tops everything that I have ever seen before from you so I'll have to come up with better terminology than "brilliant" and "amazing".
I would love to see this used as an advertisement / such ... much better than an advertisement putting Pelosi and Gingrich on a couch together.
Although I agree with you on the (relatively) negligible scale of the Solyndra boondoggle compared to total US federal funding for green initiatives, the political fallout adds some spice to the pre-election doldrums.
For interested readers, an (unverified, but credible) Solyndra insider's report can be found here. It puts some flesh on the bones of the story.
As for Gov. Perry's hair, you might want to practice up. I have a dark suspicion you're going to be drawing a lot more of it come 2012. :P
