A frightening prophecy. Then again, I pretty much gave up when Bush was reelected in 2004 after starting 2 wars, destroying or straining all of our alliances, rolling back most environmental laws, and exploded the deficit out of control. I prefer to just be an observer of history at this point. It's sort of like being in Germany in the 1930's only instead of a war coming it's just going to be stagnation, gridlock, and ever increasing polarization as long as a Democrat is president and the Republicans control anything.
I find it amazing that the same people who wave the flag the most have been convinced that taxes (i.e. government) and government itself (i.e. people and ideas coming together for the collective good) are somehow both inherently bad things. Yes, the more you hate the government and equality, the more it makes you a true patriot
The Tea Baggers are the best. Where were they when we had record debt and a collapsing economy BEFORE a black man was elected president? I doubt they would be so fired up if the president was a white republican and the hordes of Mexicans were all blonde haired with blue eyes. Their real motivations only have a very limited correlation to the economy.

Also Ron Bloom, Obama's manufacturing Tsar openly praised Mao and advocated abolishing free markets completely. He also paraphrased Mao saying he agreed with him that political power comes from the barrel of a gun. (Which is a cornerstone of liberalism I might add.)

The average unemployment during the Bush years was 5%. Until 2007 when the Dems took over passed all kinds of regulations and prevented the tax cuts from becoming permanent

They could simply by overiding his veto. They also blocked a lot of other legislation and Bush was forced to compromise.
By not making the tax cuts permanent, business was unwilling to risk assets through development and new hiring. Add to this, Obama is the most anti business president we have. He is totally unpredictable so business has to sit on the fence due to the uncertainties he is creating. Small businesses are especially effected.
The new Socialist health care mandate that forces employers to buy expensive ineffective insurance polices for their employees as well as individuals is the worst. Its unconstitutional and it destroys incentives to lower prices. Massachusetts which has it has one of the highest premium costs in the country and one of the worst economies in the nation! Only maine, Rhode Island, Vermont Michigan and Alaska and Pennsylvania perform worse.
The good news is all of my employees are already covered but the bad news is hiring is more difficult and since the mandate destroys the incentive to reduce cost and causes them to increase cost, My own family and even my business will suffer once prices start shooting up. I am hoping for Anthony Kennedy to take the side of liberty. If he doesn't I could be out of business in a year.
