Wow way to complain about a state acting like the country did before 1964 and the Great society alot of this has to be done to save the notion of a state as a whole while californian like to think of themselves as europeans they can learn about how that doesn't work
In light of California's malaise, I wonder if California and the rest of the nation will be ready to finally acknowledge our very expensive mass legal and illegal immigration problems. For that matter, will the tussle over salmon fishing and agricultural irrigation help teach Americans about the reality of Malthusian limits to population growth? Nah.
Billions borrowed but baled for banks and corporate buy-outs without a blink of an eye for people bilked by the system. Americans must be so proud of their leaders, eh. NOT!!!
Single payer, universal healthcare aught to be where the billions are spent; you know, like in the 'real' civilized nations of the world where citizens are considered worthy of realizing a healthy existence without becoming financially strapped.
"O Canada, our true north strong and free" ....healthcare?"
Oui, oui monsieur! It's a Canadian's right to have access to medical care without forfeiting our homes and assets to pay for it, eh. Truly civilized!
May an enlightenment overcome your leaders and deliver you 'well-being' too. Peace in all dimensions.

well actually... this depends on what province you live in. ontario requires you to be employed (your employer covers some of the cost!) or retired with a pension benefit of some kind for the 8.4% unemployed here there footing the bill for some of the cost out of pocket...
I wonder, why is the answer to problems always tax somebody (usually the faceless "rich"). I also wonder if by being so welcoming to the poor in the past the problems have been magnified.
Because the rich own nearly everything. Homeowners don't own their homes they owe money to the rich.
Of course, we all know the meaning of life is more stuff, forget the welfare of people ;). Ask anyone the next time you're at church.
The upper middle class is paying about 50% in taxes, the lower class is paying about 6.5% which they can't afford. The rich typically would pay about 25% (if that?) on what they aren't able to hide. Homeowners don't own their homes they owe money to the rich.
Forget income. We'd be shocked to realize the distribution of wealth.
Considering costs today vs 1968 when minimum wage was $1.25 and a candy bar was .05, gas .27, 3br home $100/mo, new car $1700 vs today: candy bar .50, gas 2.90, rent 1000, new car 17000.
You'd need 12.50 per hour just to have the same meager buying power as the 1968 minimum wage, and that's for a place like Ohio! California should probably be about $15.00 per hour.
Ahnuld is still a step up from Generalissimo Wally.
And since the social security endowment is more than 57 trillion in arrears, people having limited medical coverage will be a get-used-to-it primer for old age when (as of 2015) nobody will have medical coverage.
Oh well. I still think your voice actor is cool, and the 'fank you bao state bamama repubwic' was a good chuckle. That's gotta count for something.
Ronnie Raygun took the funds that the fed used to use to state highways and other projects away, without lowering the peoples taxes. Thus the states were defunded.
No politician will mention it even though they all know it.
And now the states will have to be bailed out with those very funds. The deal will move more power away from the states, and toward the fed thieves.

What it should teach Americans is that empire(roman, British, French, etc) is expensive, and not in their interests.

And you forget that making
And you forget that making more money to offset inflation pushes you into higher tax brackets because they never adjust the brackets for inflation.
So, if you made $15.00 an hour now, you'd be treated tax wise like you made $15.00 an hour in 1968.... Meaning you're a rich mofo! :D
