You can get lots of great news & info from the internet. Like ... There's this dude Mark Fiore who publishes these really awesome & funny animated political cartoons. Check 'em out: http://www.markfiore.com. You can't get that from offa the side of a mountain!
We are always used to speak our minds on Twitter and Facebook, without checking our real world. I liked those Michael Jackson references in the ticker and the Twitter bird... What a sight to be seen!
The irony of this cartoon is that it wouldn't be possible without the very Internet and attention people pay to it that the cartoon would seem to condemn.
Was it a slow week or something, Mark? Surely there must have been a much better topic to cartoon about. How about the Sotomayor nomination or the economy's continuing malaise (with no end in sight)?
"... if only they could remember how to speak face to face!"
My god, that is so true. Especially for people around my age (in their twenties and younger)! After relocating to a new city, I've had a hellish time trying to make friends. Everyone wants to exchange facebook pages and myspace links and emails, but no one wants to actually get to know each other in person. When I tell them I don't have a facebook or myspace page or use IM or textmessage on my phone, they look at me like I'm from another planet. (Why in the world would I text someone when I can call them and say three times as much for three times less??? And why would I *want* my personal life splayed all over a webpage??? I don't understand the appeal.)
DOes it count as 'face-to-face' communication when someone actually says 'lol' (in place of actual laughter) or 'brb' or whathaveyou in a regular, spoken sentence? I'm forced to accept that it does, since I get their meaning, but I assure you it is with the greatest reluctance.
At least people still know what a pencil and paper are for (although I have met people who don't know what the 'funny pink rubber thing is for').
For the time being...
Great cartoon this week, either way. Thanks!

But you missed the real
But you missed the real irony of this cartoon. I was on vacation while it ran. Yes, I was one of the bleary-eyed ones.
Not condemning technophiles, just advocating for a break once in a while. Don't forget there is a non-computer world out there!

New animation is up. And, yes, I'm one of those bleary-eyed people on vacation. (But seem to remember how to speak face-to-face, so far.)
