I thought that Sammy Lil'shiv, Pokey, Knuckles, Smarty Bombsalot and Mr. Dan were the [TOUGH!] guys on this site. They don't just talk tough, they act tough. But Mr. Fiore plainly doesn't agree with them, and we'll assume that Mr. Fiore is [TOUGH!], hence 'tough' isn't actually [TOUGH!] We'll call the former 'pre-2009 tough'.
And if we assume Mr. Fiore is a (wuss) so that 'pre-2009 tough' is consistent with [TOUGH!], then we naturally have to wonder why we'd care what a (wuss) thinks about being [TOUGH!].
Either way, a logical paradox that threatens to unravel the very fabric of the universe.
...or at least one cartoonist's attempt at centrism.

Nah. All the guys you listed aren't really tough, they're just bullies. Bullies think they're tough, but the minute they meet somebody who might be able to fight back, they run away.
Yes, they should be tried internationally (they won't, because the status quo doesn't want to air Bush's dirty torture laundry).
If they were tried internationally, then without a doubt the illegality of the Bush/Cheney torture regime would come to light, and there would be a call for war crimes trials.
They * may * get a fair trial - given that in reality, as some have already stated - some of those being held probably are innocent.
I can't help but think the self-serving SOBs that still carry water for the Bush administration don't give a flying f*** about the safety, per se, of bringing terror suspects to NY - they don't want the GOP to be embarrassed.

Mark, until those trials take place, they are not terrorists. They are *ALLEGED* terrorists. Part of the system of justice that you are rightly touting is the principle of innocent until proven guilty.
No doubt the real reason people like Boner don't want to see the people we've kidnapped (and in many cases tortured) get fair trials is that it would be really embarrassing when a lot of them turned out to be innocent.
I honestly thought this was a decision nobody would be happy with, because NY would be the last place you could ever find an 'impartial' jury (no sardonic laughter, please) and that showing the community at large you came to the verdict as fairly as possible would be just as important to a lot of people as the verdict itself. As a European liberal, it seems I called the wrong shot.

Clever, Mark! I especially
Clever, Mark! I especially liked your use of the Eichmann trial to make your point. Very convincing.

But supposing that the [TOUGH!] bloodthirsty New York jury clamoring for let-'em-rot-forever-with-lil'shiv-style American Justice©®™ (or at least the small fraction of New Yorkers that still believe Khalid Mohammed and his band of merry men were at the top of the whole thing) were to vote for the death penalty *dun dun dun*, then it means they agree with Pokey, who's certainly 'pre-2009 tough', meaning he's not [TOUGH!], meaning that the [TOUGH!] New Yorkers are in fact not [TOUGH!] at all.
And if we assume Mr. Fiore is a (wuss) so that 'pre-2009 tough' is consistent with [TOUGH!], then we naturally have to wonder why we'd care what a (wuss) thinks about being [TOUGH!].

They do not as defendants
They do not as defendants have to ask for a jury, gang! Could be a Judge only trial. This is solely at discretion of the defendants, not prosecution.

they won't get a fair trial
they won't get a fair trial because any american jury is already tainted by the media. They should be tried internationally.
