Those Dang Vegans

Though I don't consider myself to be very "political", I have now found the need to express myself on this page-- because, after all, the sixth listed definition for "political" in the Webster's Dictionary states: "of or pertaining to citizens: political rights." And I figure-- I'm a citizen...so political can pertain to me after all.

Being political in essence means that you are passionate about something. While listening to a podcast about vegetarianism (ok, I admit it-- I'm one of those dang vegans that's always spouting off about animal rights), I heard the following statement which gave me pause: If you're passionate about something, then DO something. Do SOMETHING, do ANYTHING... just don't do nothing.

So maybe this blog post on this website is my way of DOing something. Be it political or not, I am passionate about the rights of animals. If you are a "citizen", then this "pertains" to you. The next time you grab the turkey sandwich or you order the chicken fingers or juicy hamburger (that ain't "juice" by the way... but I digress), think about what kind of statement you are making about yourself. My humble, non-political opinion is that we are all "citizens"-- some of us were just chosen to be the citizens that we all enjoy eating. Because after all, it all boils (pun intended) down to this: you either love animals, or you eat them.
