There is a huge wrench in the works of President Joe Biden’s signature domestic policy agenda and his name is Joe.
Senator Joe Manchin is blocking “Build Back Better” legislation in the name of being a really smart fiscal conservative just looking out for his West Virginia constituents. Surely the fact that he made his fortune and continues to make around $500,000 a year from the coal industry has nothing to do with his opposition to the climate change measures in the bill, right?

All eyes (for a minute) are on Afghanistan after the U.S. pullout turned to chaos. Yes, President Joe Biden, his administration and the Pentagon clearly screwed up the final withdrawal. They should have acted sooner to help people who aided the U.S.-backed Afghan government and our earlier efforts to prop up the country.
Thanks to guys like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the delta variant will have an even easier time causing sickness and death. Extremist politicians in Florida and Texas (and unfortunately a number of other states) are doing everything they can to block mask and vaccine mandates in government, schools and in the private sector.
Mandatory face mask restrictions are returning as the delta variant spreads across the country. COVID-19 vaccines are remarkably effective against the delta variant but unvaccinated people are getting infected with the new, more infectious strain of coronavirus. Far too many people still just don’t seem to get it.
If you were already furious about what happened on January 6th as violent Trump supporters took over the Capitol, listening to four police officers testifying before a House select committee will refresh your rage. Yes, there are two Republicans on the committee, but the leadership — and the party of Trump — wants nothing to do with investigating what happened on that terrible day.
